Obituary for the Rev. Charlotte Anderson

The Reverend Charlotte Ann Anderson, 68 of Urbana, passed away, Saturday, July 08, 2017 at the Springfield Regional Medical Center.

She was born on August 19, 1948 in Baytown, TX. Charlotte received her BA in Theatre from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX in 1972, her masters in English from Sam Houston State University in 1977, and her masters of divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Bexley, OH in 1995. She was a high school teacher in Houston, TX; where she taught theatre, speech, and English and a professor at San Jacinto Junior College in Pasadena, TX, where she taught English. She was a pastor at First English Lutheran Church in Damon, TX, St. John Lutheran Church in Leigh, NE, Zion Lutheran Church, in Platte Center, NE, and Euclid Lutheran Church in Euclid, OH; as well as the secretary at Christ Lutheran Church in La Porte, TX. She was a retired pastor in the Southern Ohio Synod and was involved with Messiah Lutheran Church as a preacher of sermons & children's sermons, lector, assisting minister, choir member, and Sunday school teacher.

Charlotte loved to read and write, especially poetry. She enjoyed traveling and a few of her favorite places were to Galveston Beach, the Great Smoky Mountains, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and all beaches. Charlotte was a marvelous singer, dancer and performer. She enjoyed community theatre where she performed and directed in the Baytown Little Theater, Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and the Footlighters in Wharton, TX. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Charlotte is survived by her husband of 36 years, Rev. Scott Anderson; children, Sgt. Christian Walter (Halle) Anderson of Fort Campbell, KY and Catherine Elyse (Leilani Barrett) Anderson of Cleveland Heights, OH; grandchildren, Lydia Danielle Anderson, Sparrowe Scott Anderson, and Leonidas John Anderson; and 4 nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in the Vernon Funeral Home Urbana, OH. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, Urbana with Rev. Bruce Booher officiating; where a 1 hour gathering will be held prior to the service at the church.
