West Virginia needs your help to complete disaster recovery projects still not complete from 2016/17 floods

The West Virginia-Western Maryland Synod's social ministry agency, Community Lutheran Partners (CLP), has been integral in organizing long-term disaster recovery efforts in West Virginia in wake of the devastating summer flooding that occurred in 2016 and 2017. As a close partner with CLP, LSS Disaster Services is seeking volunteer disaster recovery teams to assist with the rebuilding phase in West Virginia. With almost 800+ open cases from the June 2016 floods and another 400+ following the floods in July of 2017, the need is great and the work is plentiful. The areas in which the teams from the SOS will be placed is in Wetzel and Marshall Counties. CLP will work with the Long Term Recovery Groups in those areas to provide housing for volunteers and ensure that the materials needed for each job are on site. Volunteers (16 years of age and older) of all skill levels are needed. Please consider partnering with LSS and CLP to help rebuild our neighbors’ homes in West Virginia.

As always, please always work through a disaster response/recovery agency when volunteering to help with recovery efforts. These agencies work with local officials to make sure volunteers are deployed to the areas where they are needed most.
