Letter and video for congregations demonstrating your mission support at work

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

“As each has received a gift use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:10

A week ago, you received a moving letter from Pastor Emily Beckering from St. Paul Lutheran in Reading, Ohio. St. Paul Lutheran Church’s story is unique to them; however, congregations struggle every day to exist and continue to discern where and how God is calling them to share God’s love for the world.

Bishop Dillahunt, her staff, and the ELCA work to support congregations every day. This work includes helping young people grow in their faith and relationships with God, helping congregations navigate conflict, and providing practical resources for ministry. The Southern Ohio Synod’s mission is to be stronger and better together, joining Jesus in the restoration of the world to accomplish more than we could do on our own.

The Southern Ohio Synod has made a short video highlighting the many ministries supported and created by the synod. You can find the video online at http://bit.ly/2xdB2Sw or by going to the Southern Ohio Synod website (www.southernohiosynod.org) and clicking on the Stewardship button in the middle of the home page. Share this video with your congregation. Many congregational leaders are not aware of the resources available to them. Share this video as part of your stewardship campaigns to inform your congregation about the good work happening as result of their generosity. Share this video during education moments about stewardship as a spiritual discipline. Share this video as a tool to inspire ministry.

Thank you for praying, discerning, and acting on God’s call to share the Good News through Word and Sacrament and for your prayerful consideration of how to share the resources provided by God.

Please prayerfully consider increasing your support of the many ministries of the Southern Ohio Mission Territory, including helping congregations such as St. Paul Lutheran to continue their ministries sharing the love God so graciously shared with us through Christ’s death and resurrection.

Your partner in ministry,

The Stewardship Committee

P.S.  We are stronger and better together, joining Jesus in the restoration of the world.
