Two excellent Lay School of Theology courses lined up for spring semester--Evangelism & the Gospels

Lay School is a school for all who sit in the pew during Sunday morning worship- you, the ones next to you, the ones around you—as well as already certified Lay Worship Leaders. The courses present an opportunity for you to enrich the fabric of your faith life; to gain more understanding of how God has been, and is still, at work in the lives of people of every age through his Word. Qualified instructors teach courses that are geared mainly for the person-in-the-pew and are also for people who are already a certified Lay Worship Leader and in need of continuing education credit. Winter/Spring and Fall courses are now offered at two campuses: Chillicothe and Dayton.

Tuition Registration for this course is $50.00 plus books that you will need to purchase.

From Survivin’ to Thrivin-Taught by Pastor Katie Kerrigan who serves as Assistant to the Bishop and ELCA Director for Evangelical Mission, focusing on helping congregations find new purpose and vitality in these changing times. Her previous parish experience was in rural and small town churches, so she especially understands the challenges which congregations face in such settings.

Course description: In this course, we will explore how congregations can make the shift from survival mode to being an active, thriving community of faith. We will be talking about reconnecting with God’s mission, rediscovering the congregation’s purpose in that mission, rerooting and re-engaging with our communities, and reclaiming evangelism in a Lutheran key.
