Note to the synod: Mission Support and Parochial Reports February 2018

Grace and peace be with you.

Stronger and better together...Joining Jesus in the restoration of the world!

First of all, I want to thank those of you who gave generously this past year to mission support, either through your congregation or directly to the synod. Even though mission support giving fell short of the amount adopted by the synod assembly in 2016, direct gifts from individuals and congregations helped us land in the positive, according to pre-audit reports. Again thank you! Let's continue this generosity.

Second, I want to encourage all of our congregations to submit their 2017 Congregational Report, commonly known as the Parochial Report. The reports are generated by the ELCA Churchwide Offices, but if you need assistance, please call Gabrielle Hudecek in the Synod Office. If you submitted your report already...Thank You!

Last year, out of 65 synods, SOS was second from the bottom for reports submitted. The reports do count. For example, the information received last year (the year we were second from the bottom) was used to calculate how many people from the Southern Ohio Synod will go to the 2019 Churchwide Assembly as voting members. We lost one voting member. Now we have one less voice in Milwaukee next year. So, please, let's move from the bottom of the list to the top! I know it can be done. Below is a link to the Parochial Report on the ELCA website for your convenience.

Blessings this Lenten Season and continued prayers for our ministry together.

Peace,

Bishop Suzanne D. Dillahunt
