Nelson W. Trout Lectures April 26-27

The Rev. Eboni Marshall Turman, Ph.D., assistant professor of theology and African American religion at Yale University Divinity School, will be the featured speaker for the annual Nelson W. Trout Lectures on April 26 and 27. 2018.

An ordained National Baptist preacher, her research interests include womanist/feminist liberation theologies and ethics; the black radical tradition; black women and theological liberalisms; black womanist aesthetics; and dogmatics in the African American Christian tradition.

Dr. Marshall Turman is the author of Toward a Womanist Ethic of Incarnation: Black Bodies, the Black Church and the Council of Chalcedon (Palgrave McMillan, 2013). She is currently working on her next monograph, tentatively titled,Black Women’s Burden: Sexism, Sacred Witness, and Transforming the Moral Life of the Black Church.

A 2017-18 Yale Public Voices fellow and one of Ebony Magazine’s Young Faith Leaders in the Black Community, she preaches regularly from pulpits around the world and has been named as one of the “Top 5 Young Preachers in America” by ROHO.
