Obituary for The Rev. Thomas A Wolfe

 

Pastor Thomas Arthur Wolfe, age 85 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Tom was born in Michigan City, Indiana on June 23, 1933, the son of Grace Charlotte (Olson) & Arthur Henry Wolfe. He was a graduate of Michigan City Elston Senior High School, 1951, Capital University, 1955 and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, 1959.

Tom was ordained on June 14, 1959 at his home church, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Michigan City. He served congregations at St. Timothy Lutheran, Miami, FL, Christ Lutheran, Jacksonville, FL, Zoar Lutheran, Perrysburg, OH and Christ Lutheran, Bexley, OH. In his retirement, Tom served with Lutheran Social Services in their Development Area and enjoyed his role as visitation pastor with Christ Lutheran Church. Tom also served on the Board and as Chairman of Trinity Lutheran Seminary and Lutheran Social Services. He was an avid and lifelong Chicago Cubs and Indiana Hoosiers fan and enjoyed his fishing adventures on Lake Erie with his special friend and "brother" Bob Shank.

Along with his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his beloved first wife Nancy J. (Flower) Wolfe and his brother Richard Wolfe. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Mary Ann (Matheney) Kopp Wolfe; his children Nelson (Linda) Kopp, Matt (Linda) Wolfe, Brad (Judy) Kopp, Beth (Gregg) Suver, Bethany (Mick) Merz, Lida (Mike) Ryan, Amy Lovins and Jon Wolfe; his grandchildren Jennifer Wolfe, Melissa (Mike) Crawford, Andrea (Josh) Cywinski, Christopher Kopp, Jeremy (Christie) Kopp, Noah Ryan, Kellin Ryan, Emily Suver, Ethan Suver, Thomas and Emma Wolfe and their mother Sue, Lucas and Alexa Lovins and their father Mike; his great-grandchildren Isabella Crawford, Cora Cywinski, Jack Crawford and Sophia Kopp; sisters-in-law Norma Wolfe, Linda Rubio & Sally Craden; niece Judy Ryan and nephew Mike Wolfe.

Friends may call 1-4 & 6-8pm Friday, November 23 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 E. Main St., Bexley, OH 43209 where the family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Pastors Tim Iseringhausen and Denny Asp officiating. An additional visitation will be held 2-6pm Sunday, November 25 at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, OH. Graveside service will follow at 11:00 am, Monday, November 26 at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Bexley or to Lutheran Social Services, 500 W. Wilson Bridge Rd., STE 245, Worthington, OH 43085.
