You're invited to the 29th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Learning on Jan 20, 2020 at Capital U

On Monday, January 20, 2020, Capital University will proudly host the 29th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Learning. This year we will commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. King through the theme of A Vision For Action.  On behalf of our planning committee, I would like to cordially invite you to attend.

Achea Redd, a Mental Health Advocate and Author of BE FREE BE YOU, has been selected to give the Gay S. Steele Keynote Address.  Capital faculty, staff, and students as well as community leaders, will lead presentations relevant to Dr. King’s work.  We invite you as members of the Greater Columbus community to join Capital University as we celebrate this day.  An overview of the schedule is as follows: 

Schedule of Events

8 am: Community Gathering and Procession to Convocation (Student Union)

9 am: Convocation and Speaker, Achea Redd

11:00am-12:30pm: Workshop Sessions

11 am – 12:30pm: Kids Korner

11:30 am – 1:30pm: The Hank Marr Jazz Luncheon (Main Dining Room, Student Union)

1:30pm-2:30pm: Book Signing with Achea Redd

2:00pm-3:30pm: Workshop Sessions

4:00pm-6:00pm:  Dear Miss Conrad: Capital University in WWII (www.DearMissConrad.com)

 

Please note that all of the events, with the exception of the Jazz Luncheon, are free and open to the public. For those who would like to attend the luncheon, tickets will be sold in the Harry C. Moores Student Union from 7:30 am-11 am.
