The 2020 Southern Ohio Synod Assembly, for the first time ever, will be held at one of our synod congregations! Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6430 Far Hills Ave in Centerville, OH is opening its doors to welcome members of the Southern Ohio Synod for a day of worship, fellowship, Bible study and business. Our time together is only one day this year--May 16, 2020--but the day will be packed with uplifting, edifying and engaging content you will want to be a part of and take back to your congregation.

Our theme for assembly is Stronger and Better Together: On the way...Be light! Our focus scripture is Matthew 5:15-16. Our good deeds should shine out for all to see so that our Father in heaven may be glorified!

We will be electing a few members to our synod council. This is an important leadership role in the synod, so please read over your materials regarding the candidates nominated to be a part of synod council and be prepared to vote when you arrive in May. Look for the Pre-Assembly Materials Packet online about 2 weeks prior to the assembly. Notifications regarding the posting of these materials will be sent via email, on our website and on Facebook.

We’re honored to welcome The Rev. William Gufkajen, Bishop of the Indiana-Kentucky Synod, and former ELCA Conference of Bishops chairperson, as our ELCA representative and bible study leader. The Indiana-Kentucky Synod and the Southern Ohio Synod have much in common, including Deacon Cory Driver, Director of the Southern Ohio Synod Leadership Academy, who is working with Dr. C. Lynn Nakamura to develop our TEEM program curriculum and other lay leader curriculum. Bishop Gufkjen is a gifted speaker and Godly leader. We know you’ll enjoy his presentations at assembly.

In addition, we will hear about the progress of the Thrive! Campaign and some exciting upcoming events you won’t want to miss!
