I first met Hans in 1991, not long after I arrived in the Cincinnati area as the pastor-developer of a new congregation there. My experience more of Hans the Scholar and Internationalist than Hans the Activist. He was a stickler for good theology and an appreciation for the fact that the West isn't the only place where good theological teaching is happening. Having his sensibilities and voice of experience as part of our discussions during meetings of the Cincinnati Ministerium was always a great asset.

God bless those who mourn with the sure and certain hope that all who trust in Jesus Christ are with God in the kingdom forever!
