Update: The family of The Rev. Ed and Mrs. Ruth Winkler
The Rev. Ed and Mrs. Ruth Winkler were in a car accident on Friday, August 16, 2013. Unfortunately, both Ed and Ruth died as a result of the accident.
Please keep the Winkler family and their friends in your prayers. May the promise of eternal life with our Father bring comfort, peace and hope to those who mourn.

I cannot even begin to fathom how to thank God for Ed and Ruth. They have been the epitome to so many of us of what selfless Christlike love is. I remember in seminary, Ed would 'walk the hall' with me and sneak money into my pocket to make sure I had food to eat. what do you say to such a person. And Ruth, the way that she showed hospitality - NO ONE was a stranger to her. Jim and family - our prayers and support are with you, Thank you for sharing them with us!

Pastor Winkler confirmed me and was one of my ordination sponsors. Both he and his wife lived lives full of grace. They were such blessings in my life!

My thoughts,prayers and love go out to the Winkler Family. You were a huge part of my life that I could never pay back. I am very sadden and wish I could hug you all. Your parents were one of a kind.

Ed was a wonderful mentor when I was a new assistant to the bishop in a new synod in a new church body. His wisdom, encouragement, and joy in serving Jesus and the church was a gift and inspiration. Giving thanks for their lives and witness, and offering prayers for comfort for all who mourn, even as we hold firm to the promise of the resurrection.

Your parents touched my heart with their kindness. My eldest son was their paperboy. Ruth left home baked cookies on my porch 18 years ago at the birth of my twin daughters. And Ed's smile... The loss of Ed and Ruth is great. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
