Join pest management professionals from across Washington for a full day of technical education offering 6 CEUs (anticipated). Sessions will cover essential topics including PPE safety, advanced cockroach control, pesticide and pollinator protection, rodent management innovations, and the latest regulatory updates shaping our industry. Presented by leading experts from WSU, MGK, Syngenta, the Department of Health, Target Specialty Products, and WSPMA, this event delivers practical, field-focused training designed to enhance safety, compliance, and service performance.

Session Information

PPE: What You Don't Know Can Hurt You (8:00 AM - 8:55 AM)

This session focuses on the proper selection, use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment in pest management. Learn how to interpret labels for PPE requirements, avoid common compliance mistakes, and ensure your team’s safety in all treatment environments. Presented by WSU, this session will strengthen your field safety practices and regulatory readiness.


Cockroach Control: Smarter Strategies for Tough Environments (9:00 AM - 9:55 AM)

Cockroach infestations remain one of the most persistent and challenging pest issues. This session covers cutting-edge control techniques, bait rotation strategies, and real-world lessons from field case studies. You’ll gain actionable insight into overcoming resistance and improving long-term results in multifamily and commercial accounts.


Pesticide Safety and Worker Protection (10:15 AM - 11:10 AM)

Speaker: Cecelia Lofton (WA Department of Health)
Join Cecelia Lofton from the Washington State Department of Health for a deep dive into pesticide exposure prevention, worker protection standards, and best practices for minimizing risk. This presentation will help both technicians and managers understand their shared responsibility in creating a safe, compliant workplace.


Pollinator Safety and Stewardship (11:15 AM - 12:10 PM)

Pollinator health continues to be a key focus in regulatory and public discussions. Learn how pest professionals can protect pollinators through label adherence, product stewardship, and environmentally responsible practices. Experts will share the latest research and practical ways to support pollinator sustainability in everyday pest control operations.


Rodent Control: New Tools, Trends, and Techniques (1:00 PM - 1:55 PM)

Rodent control continues to evolve as urban pressure, regulation, and product restrictions increase. This session explores new tools and strategies for effective rodent management in residential, commercial, and multifamily settings. Learn how to adapt your approach for success while maintaining compliance and environmental responsibility.


Regulatory Updates: What’s Changing and What’s Next (2:00 PM - 2:55 PM)

This 50-minute talk blends regulatory updates, public health science, and real-world pest management insight to equip attendees with both knowledge and motivation. Billy Olesen will connect the dots between policy, science, and field practice—offering a clear look at the regulations shaping our work and the larger mission behind it. From new neonicotinoid and rodenticide restrictions to EPA’s national strategies, attendees will gain perspective on how science and storytelling can advance stewardship and strengthen our industry’s voice.
