Norther Giant Hornet

We aren’t out of the woods yet! We need your help to monitor for and report northern giant hornet sightings. Since the first report of a northern giant hornet in Washington in 2019 (known as the Asian giant hornet or the “murder hornet” back then), the Washington State Department of Agriculture’s (WSDA) Pest Program has been working to eradicate northern giant hornets.

Significant achievements include distributing bed nets, antimalarial drugs, and diagnostic tests in Madagascar, and raising over $13,000 through the Move Against Malaria Virtual 5K. Aquatic Mosquito Control General Permit

Ecology issued the revised Aquatic Mosquito Control permit, effective June 20, 2024, expiring June 20, 2029. This permit regulates insecticide use for mosquito control by businesses and government entities, excluding homeowners. Public comments were collected and addressed.
