A Message from the GSACEP President

Laura Tilley

Hello GSACEP!

It is hard to believe that summer is coming to an end.

A couple of updates regarding our Chapter.

First, we are continuing to execute our strategic plan that was established under the tremendous leadership of our past president, Dr. Andrea Austin. Our board and members have been busy working to achieve goals set out to better serve our members to include focus groups for awards, membership, and advocacy. Several specific examples include working to establish a mentorship program and also a white paper outlining how our members can effectively advocate for themselves, even while federal employees or on active duty. Thank you to all involved for your hard work on this.

Additionally, several of us were able to recently attend ACEP’s Leadership and Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC (even in-person!).  I am happy to report that we submitted three resolutions for the Council meeting this fall. Two of the resolutions involve advocating for physician-led healthcare teams and one was a memorial resolution for long time GSACEP member, Dr. Joseph Litner (Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis McCord, WA). We will be voting on these at the upcoming Council meeting in Boston, MA.

Please save the dates for the GSACEP Symposium, 8-10 April 2022, in Orlando, FL. Our conference committee is working hard toward hosting another excellent event where we hope to see you all.

Finally, please know that your team at GSACEP and I are here for you. It has been an exhausting year and a half. Make sure you are taking care of each other and please reach out and tell us how we can best support you. My number one priority as president of this chapter is to serve you.
