Michael J. Chiappone, DO, FACEP

Lt Col Mike Chiappone is an Active Duty Air Force Emergency Medicine Physician currently stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Lt Col Chiappone grew up in Northern Illinois. He attended Saint Louis University for his Bachelor’s degree and commissioned in 2009 under the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) before attending medical school at Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon graduation from medical school in 2013, he completed a Transitional Year Internship at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago.

Lt Col Chiappone’s Active Duty service started in 2014 at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, as a General Medical Officer (GMO) Flight Surgeon. He completed Emergency Medicine training at VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia, as part of the inaugural class of Air Force Operational Emergency Medicine residency training. Upon completion of residency training in 2020, he was assigned to Hurlburt Field, Florida, as a Flight Surgeon, Medical Director, and Flight Commander for a line-side embedded medical unit. He has been stationed at Fort Bragg since 2023, currently filling the role of Deputy Command Surgeon at a joint medical unit.
