The committee works with local media and and public relations firms as well as communications professionals, inside and outside of the industry, to create the most effective messages that will get maximum coverage.

Works with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality to help maintain a fair but effective regulatory system in environmental areas, including air quality, water use, solid and hazardous waste reporting.

Engages with elected officials from the Executive Branch, Legislative Branch and Local Government to enact legislation that will help create a positive business climate in Louisiana. These issues typically pertain to taxation, tort regulation, commerce rules and environmental regulations.

Health and Safety
Leads the way with numerous government agencies to craft updates and new rules that help Louisiana chemical facilities remain a safe and healthy place for employees as well as fence line neighbors. One of the main focuses of the group has been to combat the narrative of ‘Cancer Alley,’ which has become prevalent in local media. Other areas of concern are accident/emissions reporting and chemical plant safety regulations.

Charged with maintaining a fair and equitable legal climate in Louisiana, actions of the committee include filing amicus briefs in pending litigation and assisting LCA in any and all legal matters as issues present themselves.

Works to make sure all chemical manufacturers are kept safe from any intentional acts of terrorism or unintentional acts of negligence that could put a facility and community in harm’s way. This committee works to make sure regulations are thorough but enforceable in regards to chemical plant security, TWIC, cybersecurity and maritime security.

Workforce Development/Education
Workforce Development/Education
Strives to create an environment that contributes adequate educational
opportunities for people hoping to work in the chemical industry, as well as provide them with the tools to find a job at an LCA facility once their education is complete. The committee works closely with the PTEC program, local community colleges and the state, to educate and employ residents in the chemical industry.

Oversees the membership and event/program matters of the LCA/LCIA focusing on ensuring a comprehensive membership program offering the right mix of events, benefits, and value to retain existing members and attract new members

Rail Task Force
Rail Task Force
Commissioned with helping to create equality between the rail carriers and the customers they service, the task force deals extensively with the Surface Transportation Board and works to find new, cost-effective, and efficient avenues for captive shippers moving their products via the railroad. This committee is also focused on rail-related safety and security regulatory requirements and rail-related best practices
