Stone Funeral Home, Inc. is seeking a licensed director/embalmer, or apprentice for a full-time position at our location in Cheboygan, Michigan, Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
Stone Funeral Home, Inc. is an independently owned, growing business serving over 600 families a year. We have multiple locations spanning Northern Michigan. Cheboygan is a perfect place to live for anyone interested in boating, fishing, hiking, and camping. It is also conveniently located to nearby ski hills and in close proximity to historic Mackinac Island and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Candidates must be professional, compassionate, trustworthy, and willing to learn. We are looking for someone who is able to effectively multitask, communicate, and problem solve. In addition to your salary, you can expect an above average compensation package. Benefits include: On site apartment available to applicant who requires local housing accommodations, health insurance, retirement program, paid vacation time and sick days, cell phone provided by the company, dry cleaning allowance, bonuses, and potential commission on monument sales. Your job would entail meeting with families, arrange and direct funerals, work with fellow employees, order merchandise, schedule burials, and prepare all necessary documentation for burial, cremation, and transport. Embalm, dress, cosmetize and casket the deceased. Demonstrate proficient use of computers, including EDRS, Photoshop, and Adobe; as well as design and print stationary. Ability to compose and edit obituaries. Make removals during business hours and while on-call. A Degree in Mortuary Science from an accredited university is required.
