Description

Beech leaf disease is a novel condition that has emerged over the last decade but now affects forests throughout the northern US.  This talk will discuss what we know about the cause of the disease, its potential treatment and efforts to identify possible resistance in beech populations.

Presenter

David Burke is the Vice President for Science and Conservation at Holden Forests & Gardens, which includes the Holden Arboretum and Cleveland Botanical Garden. David has a BS degree in environmental science and a PhD in biology from Rutgers University. As Vice President, David oversees Holden’s research, conservation and community forestry programs. His research focuses on microorganisms that interact with plants, especially beneficial organisms but also pathogens.
