Join OHLA Emerging Professionals for a meaningful (and genuinely fun) volunteer experience at Star House in Columbus! During your two-hour shift, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting youth in need by helping us organize and track generous community donations. Bring your energy—we keep the vibes high while getting real work done. You’ll sort through clothing, hygiene items, and household goods, grouping them where they’re needed most, and help count inventory to keep everything running smoothly. It’s simple, impactful work that directly supports an incredible mission—and a great way to connect with fellow professionals while giving back.

Volunteering opportunity is open to all OHLA Members.

During your two-hour shift, you'll help us organize and track the generous donations we receive. This will primarily involve:

• Energy: Bring the energy and vibes, we work hard and have fun doing it.
• Sorting: You'll sort through various donated items (clothing, hygiene products, household goods, etc.) and group similar items together.
• Counting: You may be asked to count the quantities of each item type to help us maintain an accurate inventory.

What to Expect:

• You'll work in our warehouse, a large, open space.
• We'll provide instructions and necessary supplies (boxes, markers, clipboards, etc.).
• A Star House staff member or experienced volunteer will be available to answer any questions.
• We would like to encourage you to take breaks as needed.

Important Notes:

• Please leave personal belongings in a secure area as directed by staff.
• If you have any physical limitations or concerns, please let us know so we can find a task that is best for you.
• Your safety is our priority. Please be mindful of your surroundings and report any potential hazards to a staff member.
• We will have a QR code that serves as our registration. Please ensure that everyone registers so we can accurately track our volunteer partners.
• Please share your experience on your social channels and we welcome feedback on your experience.

The volunteer shift is from 3:00 - 5:00PM. Please try to be 10-15 minutes early to be briefed on our tasks.

There is free and ample parking in front of and to the side of the building. 

• Look for the Star House sign on the front of the building.
• After parking, head to the warehouse entrance and look for the welcome sign.
• Ring the bell if someone is not waiting to greet you.

Food & Beverages will not be provided. Please bring a water bottle with you for the duration of the volunteering opportunity.

Please wear comfortable, casual clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required for your safety in the warehouse.
