COVID-19 Update: 18,838 Newly Confirmed Cases
Week of July 4, 2022
Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 18,838 new COVID-19 cases and 411 new hospitalizations for the week.
The agency did not report any additional deaths from COVID. ODH recently indicated there would be no additions to the state's COVID-19 death total on June 9, 16, 23 and 27 due to the installation of a new coding system.
The ODH also reported 2,867,291 confirmed cases, 38,857 deaths and 119,745 hospitalizations. The agency also reported 7,372,030 Ohioans have received at least one dose of the vaccine; this figure represents 63.07 percent - a low figure compared to numbers nationwide, which are approximately 83.0 percent of the populace.
On March 14, 2022, the ODH announced it will only report COVID-19 data weekly rather than daily. This is in response to a significant decrease in cases and hospitalizations statewide. It will only be reported on Thursday; thus, OSAP will only report it on Thursdays, too.
