Coalition Calling for Lawmakers to Address Child Hunger

Hunger-Free School Ohio is urging lawmakers to help children

On Feb. 20, 2023, a virtual panel brought parents, educators and policy experts together to push for immediate action by Ohio lawmakers to expand access to nutritious meals for all students in the state.

The event was hosted by Scott DiMauro, president of the Ohio Education Association (OEA) on behalf of the Hunger-Free Schools Ohio coalition. The coalition represents more than 40 organizations and associations around the state which work to ensure Ohio children have access to healthy school meals.

“Every child in Ohio, regardless of where they’re from, what they look like, or how much money their parents make, needs to be able to eat full, nutritionally complete meals at school," DiMauro said. "Therefore, allowing them to focus on what they’re learning, not on the hunger pangs they’re feeling."
