Central Ohio Hotels Look for Solutions Following an Uptick in Car Break-ins
While this is a problem nationwide, Columbus has recently seen a spate of break-ins
It's becoming a common theme in Columbus: Another weekend of cars parked at hotels broken into overnight. It's a problem cities across the country are dealing with, but a group representing hotels in the state said Columbus is seeing a unique uptick.
Public safety dispatchers told 10TV Sunday Columbus Police responded to multiple hotels that morning for vehicle break-ins, including one hosting a winter convention for members of the VFW.
The Ohio Hotel and Lodging Association (OHLA) represents hotel operators around the state. The association’s president, Joe Savarise, said car break-ins are a problem nationwide, but Columbus is experiencing it worse than many others.
