Reflecting on My Time at the BIA and What Comes Next
Jon Melchi, OSAP's immediate past-chair, is departing his role at BIA
After more than seven years as executive director of the Building Industry Association (BIA) of Central Ohio, I'll be stepping away from this role in mid-June to begin a new chapter with the American Lighting Association (ALA). While I'm excited about what’s ahead, leaving the BIA and the people who make it what it is will not be easy.
This association has been more than a job. It’s been a mission, a calling and, above all, a community committed to shaping the future of our region. Together, we've built more than homes; we've helped build the foundation for a stronger central Ohio.
Throughout my time at the BIA, we've worked to advance housing opportunities at all price points, recognizing that a diverse housing supply is essential to meeting the needs of a growing region. We've helped elevate the understanding that housing is not just a place to live, it's a key driver of economic development. And, through the efforts of our passionate members, we've ensured that the BIA remains strong, vibrant and deeply relevant to the communities we serve.
