Seasonal Burn Ban in Effect for Ohio in October, November

The law prohibits most open burning in unincorporated areas between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

A seasonable burn ban is now in effect for the next couple of months.

Fall burning regulations went into effect on Oct. 1. However, with dry conditions throughout the state, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Ohio State Fire Marshal are urging residents to take precautions if they plan on burning debris.

State law prohibits most open burning in unincorporated areas in March, April, May, October and November between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Due to the unseasonably high temperatures and the lack of rain in recent months, authorities say there is an elevated risk of wildfires.
