Organist-Part Time
St. Paul Lutheran Church
A part-time position for an organist is currently available at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Newark, Ohio.
The job description is as follows:
- The Church Organist shall provide appropriate musical accompaniment during worship services and other church programs.
- Provide organ preludes, hymn accompaniment, liturgical accompaniment and choir anthem accompaniment at worship services for two services (an abbreviated Saturday afternoon service in the Chapel and a full traditional Sunday morning service in the Sanctuary).
- Serve as organist for single services on Ash Wednesday, 5 further Wednesdays in Lent, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Christmas Eve.
- Be present for the regularly scheduled rehearsals of the Covenant Choir on Wednesday evenings during their season of singing, except during times of his/her vacation or for health or weather reasons.
- Work cooperatively with the Choir Director (or Director of Music) and Pastor to choose hymns.
- Work with organ/piano repair technicians and chain of command in reporting repair issues to ensure pipe organ and piano are properly maintained. The organ is a Wicks pipe organ, originally built in 1951, but most recently refurbished in 2015 when a new console was added.
