VPMA Spring 2025 Recertification Webinar Series - presented on April 9th, May 15th, and June 18th
The Virginia Pest Management Association is presenting a Spring Recertification Webinar Series that provides excellent technical pest training that also provides recertification credits. If you need recertification credits, or just great training, in a convenient virtual format register for one of the three webinars. Recertification credits have been applied for in 7A, 7B, 7D, 8, and 60 in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Washington DC, West Virginia. The same content will be presented in each webinar, so you only need to attend one webinar to earn credits.
Each Webinar will include the following sessions:
Mosquito Mania presented by Jason Meyers, Market Development Specialist, BASF
In this session, Jason will discuss major species of these problematic backyard foes. Their associated diseases and interesting facts regarding mosquitoes will be overviewed. We will also get into subjects like quality management and recent studies that are pertinent to our dynamic industry that faces pests that vector potentially deadly diseases.
Managing Garden Gnomes and Other Vertebrate Yard Pests presented by Ian Williams, BCE, CWCP, PCQI – Manager, Rollins, Technical Services
During this webinar, participants will learn about the basic biology and identification of vertebrate pests that can damage yards, landscaping, and cause nuisance issues to people and their property. The three target groups will be moles, voles, and geese. Attendees will be able to list safety concerns with each species covered and identify any PPE required when working with the recommended management methods. Attendees will also be able to explain the selection process for a variety of management methods, including risks and necessary precautions when using various chemical control and non-chemical options.
Termites and Baiting for Control presented by Jared Miller, Territory Manager, Corteva
Participants will learn about termite biology, termite behaviors, conducive termite conditions, and what to look out for while on termite inspections. Such as, mud tubes, damage within the grain of wood, and helpful tools on termite inspections. The session will then lead into how termite bait works such as the active ingredient’s effect on termites, best install practices, how to safely handle the bait, and best practices for servicing the stations. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of termites, and how termite bait eliminates termite colonies
Cockroaches: Customer Communication, Preparation, Planning, Products, And Rethinking How We Sell and Perform Cockroach Services presented by Jamel S. Sandidge, Ph.D., BCE, MA, National Director, Technical Services, Nisus
Building a reputation for cockroach control- Once you become well-versed in effective cockroach control, strategies and products and develop a solid program for cockroach control companies will seek you out and pay for established success. This seminar will focus on large and small cockroaches to explore their differences and discuss sanitation and bio-sanitation, implementing integrated pest management (IPM), insecticide applications, pesticide safety in residential and commercial facilities, and customer communication.
A VDACS Update will also be presented by Eric Pratt (May 9 & Jun 18) and Mike Abston (April 9)
Updates on regulatory matters by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
