David and Rebecca Barron Foundation

Dr. David Barron is the 2020 recipient of the Daniel Drake Humanitarian Award for his personal mission of helping people in need. "There’s so much more that he has done humbly and without credit that has made such an impact in the lives of Cincinnatians," as noted by Dr. Rebecca Short. 

The David and Rebecca Barron Foundation, with the main purpose to help those less fortunate in our community and those whose lives have been affected by the disease of addiction. They have been involved with many organizations over the past 30 years in many capacities.  They have served on committees, hosted multiple fund-raising events in their home in addition to providing much needed financial resources.  Below is a list some of these organizations.

Shelterhouse (The David and Rebecca Barron Center for Men)


A new homeless shelter on Gest Street which replaced the Drop Inn Center.  Their donation helped build the shelter and paid for a new van for transportation.

Prospect House

A long-term treatment facility for 60 alcoholics and drug addicts located in Price Hill, having an incredible 70% success rate.  The facility is over 50 years old and in need of major renovations both inside and outside.  They provided the funding to renovate the building in its entirely and purchase a new van for transportation.  Occasionally, Robert does volunteer work with the residents.

New Beginnings (a division of Lighthouse Youth Services)

This is a residential treatment program for girls, 12-17 years old, who have been emotionally, physically and/or sexually abused.
