OOA Meets with Sen. Brown's Staff

OOA Health Policy Chair Peter A. Bell, DO, of Columbus, met with US Sen. Sherrod Brown’s Chief of Staff, John Ryan, August 9, to discuss federal cuts in the Medicare Part B program, particularly in settings that administer medicines critical to cancer patients and others who need injectable medications for chronic conditions.

Because additional cuts will be exceptionally burdensome on rural Ohioans and veterans, stakeholders attending the meeting represented various patient and physician constituencies impacted by these cuts.

Sen. Brown is a key legislator in the effort to address federal cuts, due to his role on the Finance Committee, of which he chairs the Subcommittee on Social Security, Pensions and Family Policy. In addition, he serves on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
