MMO Update

The OSCA recently had a call with Medical Mutual’s CEO regarding the company’s denial of members’ claims when it comes to durable medical equipment. In response to our conversation with the CEO, the Vice President of Legal Affairs & Assistant General Counsel stated they would halt a project in which they denied claims for DME’s. Currently, MMO will be reviewing claims denied on a case by case basis.

Initially, our first steps included working with the Association’s in-house counsel on establishing our firm position that these denials are improper because the provision of DME is within the scope of practice of chiropractors in Ohio. Additionally, we requested that all takebacks immediately stop. We are currently in the process of setting up an in-person meeting to discuss some type of resolution. As always, we will share any further updates we have in the future.
