"Continuity of Care" is the Message OSCA Takes to Medicaid over Fee-For-Time Compensation Rule

The OSCA met today with policy-makers and medical staff at the Department of Medicaid over a new rule that would allow compensation arrangements for substitute physicians. The OSCA, represented by Nicholas Strata, Dr. Brandy Spaulding and Daphne Kackloudis, argued for the inclusion of Doctors of Chiropractic within the new rule as opposed to what was already presented: Doctors of Medicine, Osteopathy, Podiatric Medicine as well as an Optometrist.

“We feel this creates a continuity of care issue. Our members’ patients should not have to wait 60 days to retrieve care just because their doctor may have an illness, family emergency, or something else really important comes up,” said Mr. Strata. “At this time Medicaid staff are going back to look at this rule and our request. We appreciate ODM's willingness to consider our request and look forward to working with them to ensure access to care that is in the best interest of Ohio's Medicaid patients.”.
