Medicare Physician Payment - Physician Advocacy Effort Helps Generate Significant Response from Congress
As you may recall, we recently put out a call for physicians to contact their representatives in Congress and encourage them to sign onto the Miller-Meeks/Panetta Dear Colleague letter, which urges House leadership to expeditiously replace the 2.8% Medicare physician payment cut with a payment update reflective of inflationary pressures before January 1, 2025.
This letter closed for co-signers on Friday, October 11th and we are pleased to report that the letter had 233 bipartisan co-signers. OSMA and AMA are thrilled that a bipartisan majority of Congress cosigned this important letter, and we sincerely thank all physicians who contributed to the grassroots support for this effort!
In addition, we want to highlight the support of the following members of the Ohio Congressional delegation who were among the cosigners:
- Bob Latta
- Greg Landsman
- Shontel Brown
- Michael Rulli
- Dave Joyce
With over 230 co-signers, we hope this letter will compel House leadership to address the looming Medicare physician payment cut and create a system that reflects inflation moving forward. This is a big step in that process, and the outcome is an excellent example of the collective power of physician voices in organized medicine making a difference for their patients and profession.
