OSMA CEO Recognized for Leadership in Physician Well-being

We’re proud to share that last month, OSMA's CEO, Todd Baker, received the Dr. Eli Crew Community Service Excellence Award from the Ohio Hospital Association. The award honors his leadership on The Disposables campaign, created in collaboration with Disappearing Doctors, to bring attention to physician burnout and suicide.

Launched in September 2023, The Disposables spotlighted the emotional and mental toll many physicians experience throughout their careers. The campaign was created to honor those we’ve lost and to urge healthcare leaders to treat physician mental health as a priority. The name reflects a difficult truth. Too many doctors feel like they are treated as expendable.

This recognition from OHA is meaningful, but it also reminds us how much more work there is to do. OSMA remains committed to improving the systems of support around physician mental health.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we invite you to take a moment to check in with yourself or a colleague. OSMA’s Well-being CARE Service is a free, confidential resource designed specifically for physicians.

Recognizing OSMA Alliance’s Advocacy
& More Ways to Support!

We are especially grateful to the OSMA Alliance for their ongoing support of physician mental health. Under the leadership of Kathy Harter, the Alliance has played a vital role in advancing this work. They helped bring The Disposables to life last year and continue to advocate for the well-being of Ohio’s medical community.

Disappearing Doctors is continuing their tribute series with an additional installation, and your help is needed.

They are collecting old or unused stethoscopes to incorporate into the next piece. If you have one to spare, please consider donating to help honor the lives of physicians we have lost and to support ongoing awareness efforts.

Please send stethoscope donations to:
