Otherwise, allow me to introduce you to The Amazing Grace day Camp Program...

Amazing Grace Day Camps are a partnership between the Southern Ohio Synod, Lutheran Outdoor Ministries in Ohio (LOMO), and local congregations and individuals. Together, these partners assist Synod congregations in their mission and ministry in the community.

The day camps provide an excellent resource for outreach, especially in communities where there is little summer programming for children, many of whom have no church affiliation. This will most likely be the best (and often only) opportunity for them to hear the message of Jesus.

I am pleased to be a part of this ministry by representing the Bishop on the Amazing Grace Day Camp Task Force. As a former camp counselor and as a congregational youth director whose church offers various summer camp oriented faith growth experiences I personally know the benefits of a week of summer camp for both young people and the congregation.

We typically offer a dozen or more week-long AGDC's around the Synod each summer. These camps reach hundreds of young people. The total cost for the Amazing Grace Day Camp Ministry is approximately $50,000.

Funding for this vital ministry comes from the authorized budget of the Southern Ohio Synod, from host congregations, and from generous contributions from congregations and individuals who pray for the camps and support them financially.

Individual contributions are also greatly appreciated. Checks from either individuals or congregations should be made out to the “Southern Ohio Synod” with “Amazing Grace” noted on the memo line.
