YBAA Members No Longer With Us

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of several YBAA members of the past few months.

Vincent Louis Morvillo, Jr.

Vincent L. Morvillo, Jr., passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 in Webster, Texas at the age of 75. Vince was a lifelong sailor, dedicated YBAA member, motivational speaker, volunteer for several organizations and his church, and was an inductee into the Ensign Hall of Fame. He was also a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and friend.

Richard "Dick" William Waterhouse

Richard William Waterhouse, age 70, of Higganum, CT died unexpectedly at work on May 28, 2021. He leaves his best friend and wife of 32 years, Janet. Dick was an adventurous spirit. Whether restoring a 1969 Jaguar E-type coupe or a 1953 Dodge Power Wagon, sailing a Hobie catamaran, or riding his ST1100 Honda motorcycle, Dick’s love for adventure, challenges and problem-solving kept him engaged. Vacations were spent chartering boats in the Caribbean, sailing Long Island Sound, or relaxing at Sebec Lake in Maine. Sharing laughter and making memories with his lifetime friends from Northfield and Sebec Lake were among his greatest joys. Time with his wife, Jan, and family kept him focused on the value of loved ones and traditions.

James John Eastland, Jr.

James John Eastland, Jr. died peacefully on April 19th, 2021. Jimis survied by his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren as well as his long-time friend, Margaret Morgan. In 1968, he founded Eastland Yachts with his long-time friend Patricia Foster. Jim became quite a successful coastal and offshore, competitive sailor, racing schooners. He enjoyed the time and camaraderie on the water immensely, won many races, and organized races for the American Schooner Association, Block Island, and numerous Nonsuch regattas. Over the decades of success of Eastland Yachts, racing circuits, and his years in Essex, Jim's love of boating and vast knowledge of sailcraft fostered wonderful relationships with so many people.
