Faculty Position
Medical University of South Carolina
The Division of Physician Assistant Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina invites applicants for a faculty position to primarily be part of the clinical education team. The successful candidate will be at the rank of instructor or assistant professor and may be eligible for a tenure-track option.
The faculty member, in collaboration with the Program’s Clinical Coordinator for Evaluation, Department’s Clinical Education Team, and the South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium (AHEC) is responsible for clinical site development and retention and student placements to ensure an optimal clinical educational experience. He or she will also be part of the program’s recruitment and admissions processes.
Other responsibilities may include student advisement and mentoring, program and college committee service, community service, and scholarship. The faculty member may also engage in clinical practice and didactic year instruction as a part of their assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies
2. 3 years of clinical practice experience
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Prior experience as a clinical preceptor
2. Strong interpersonal communication, relationship building, and mentorship skills
3. Strong organizational skills
4. Ability to multi-task and respond to dynamic nature of PA education
5. Teamwork centric
6. Flexible and adaptable
7. A zest for and commitment to PA education
