Fire Captain/Shift Commander

| The City of Oxford is seeking applicants for the position of Fire Captain/Shift Commander with a starting salary of $58,000/$21.05. This is a Civil Service position. There is a $15.00 non-refundable examination fee which must accompany the application. Qualifications: Must have high school diploma or equivalent, U.S. Citizen with no felony convictions, Firefighter II certification from State of Ohio, Ohio EMT-P certification, must have or obtain Ohio Fire Safety Inspector certification, Ohio Fire Assistant Instructor, Ohio EMS Continuing Education Instructor, and Hazardous Materials Technician within one year of appointment; must have or obtain within one year CPR, CPR instructor, and all other certifications required by the Fire Chief and the State of Ohio; possession of valid state driver’s license, minimum 5 years experience in fire department and EMS activities or any combination of education, training, and work experience which provides the required skill sets to perform the essential functions of the job. Previous fire department leadership/supervision preferred. Candidates must be able to pass a physical ability test, background investigation, pre-employment physical including vision test, hearing test, and a drug screen. Applicants will also be required to pass a truth verification examination.
