Deputy Fire Chief
City of Perrysburg Fire Division
The city of Perrysburg, a growth-oriented community, is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Fire Chief. Known for its high-quality of life, outstanding school system and rich historical heritage, Perrysburg was previously recognized by Ohio Magazine as one of Ohio’s best hometown communities. The Perrysburg Fire Division is a combination department with 24 career and 12 paid-on-call personnel. The division provides services with a strong customer service focus to a community of 21,000 residents in 12 square miles.
The Deputy Fire Chief will be responsible for daily operations and prevention activities and report directly to the Fire Chief. This key leadership position will require strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a strong team environment. Successful applicants will have a broad background in all aspects of service delivery including suppression, EMS, prevention and inspection.
Applicants should have a proven record of leadership with a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible full-time fire service experience, with five or more years as a shift officer or above. Applicants must possess the following Ohio certifications: Firefighter II, CFSI, Fire Instructor, EMT-B (EMT-P preferred), and a valid Ohio operator’s license. Applicants must also possess an associate degree in Fire Science, Business Administration or a related field and completed the NIMS training series. Completion of the Ohio Fire Executive Program (OFE) or Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO) is desirable. The successful applicant must be in good physical condition and have the ability to pass all required physical examinations as well as pre-employment drug screening.
The salary range for this position is $66,220 - $83,136, DOQ and experience, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
