Pleasant Township Fire Department
Due to a recent retirement, Pleasant Township is accepting applications for the position of Fire Chief. Pleasant Township is a progressive community located in southwestern Franklin County in the Columbus metro area. Pleasant Township is known for its quiet, rural atmosphere and numerous recreational opportunities and park lands. The Pleasant Township Fire Department is a combination department with 10 career and 40 part-time personnel operating from one fire station. The department is a full-service agency that provides emergency response services to a community of 7,500 residents in an area spanning 47 square miles.
The Fire Chief reports directly to the Board of Trustees and is expected to be highly visible and active in the community. This position requires an experienced individual who can provide enthusiastic, hands-on leadership to the department fostering a team environment while utilizing the abilities of each team member. Successful applicants will have a broad background in all aspects of service delivery including suppression, EMS, prevention and inspection; and possess strong financial management skills.
Requirements include a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible full-time fire service experience with 4 or more years as a command officer (Battalion Chief / Shift officer or above), and the following state of Ohio certifications: Firefighter II, EMT-B, CFSI, fire or EMS instructor certification and a valid Ohio operator’s license. Applicants must also have completed Fire Officer I & II and the NIMS series of incident management training. Desired qualifications include experience in a combination department, EMT-P, and an associate degree in Fire Science or related field. Working knowledge of township government is also a desired qualification for the position. The successful applicant must be in good physical condition and have the ability to pass all pre-employment screenings including physical examination and drug screening.
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000, DOQ and experience, and includes a comprehensive benefit package. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, including experience and achievements in program and project management, and copies of relevant certifications to:
