City of Riverside
The City of Riverside (population 25,201) is seeking an experienced Fire Chief to lead its combination Fire Department comprised of 16 career, 30-40 part-time, and several volunteer firefighters, as well as paid administrative staff. The City covers 9 square miles and responds to approximately 4,200 calls annually.
Applicants should have a proven record of leadership with a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible full-time fire service experience, with five or more years of permanent assignment as a command officer. Experience in an executive level position such as an Assistant Chief or Deputy Chief is highly desirable.
Applicants must hold a current State of Ohio EMT certification; State of Ohio Level II Firefighter Certification or equivalent; valid Ohio Driver’s License; State of Ohio Fire Safety Inspector; Hazardous Material Operations Certificate and National Incident Management Certifications IC-100, 200, 300, 400, 700, & 800.Certification as a fire or EMS instructor is desired. Applicants must also possess a bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, Public Safety Management, Business Administration or a related field. Completion of an advanced degree, the Ohio Fire Executive Program (OFE) or Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO) is desirable. The successful applicant must be in good physical condition and have the ability to pass all pre-employment screenings including physical examination and drug screening. Applicants must have knowledge of local and state laws relating to Fire and EMS and the National Fire Code; thorough knowledge of inspection and investigative procedures.
The salary range for this position is $76,500 – $91,000, DOQ, and includes a competitive benefits package.
