Full Time Prior Authorization Specialist

Busy Oncology Office in Wayne County is looking to hire a
full time Prior Authorization Specialist.
Description:
The Prior Authorization specialist is responsible for referral processing, providing accurate and complete data input for pre-authorization requests and for providing excellent customer service for two busy oncology clinics. You will work at each location 2 days weekly and alternate the 5th day. Will report directly to the practice manager.
Essential Duties:
- Provides groups with preauthorization numbers as needed to ensure payment for services. Responsible for review and input of referral data. Verifies insurance. Acts as a contact for payors for preauthorization issues.
- Inputs referral data into the electronic medical records as indicated and follow established procedures. Verifies insurance and obtains preauthorization services from all insurance providers requiring preauthorization.
- Inputs information into the documentation system.
- Actively support departmental and corporate strategic plans by supporting QA and QI initiatives.
- Answers calls from physician offices, hospitals, nurses and patients using exemplary customer service skills.
Standard Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree preferred.
- Experience: Oncology experience preferred. Billing experience or prior authorization experience preferred.
- Skills & Abilities: Proficient in medical terminology. Demonstrates working knowledge of health care industry, particularly knowledge of Oncology and third party payor guidelines and Federal regulations.
