Advocacy

Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you. - Pericles (430 B.C.)

The Society actively engages with legislators, provides expert commentary to policymakers, and collaborates with payers on critical issues affecting cancer care providers. Our affiliation with national advocacy groups enables us to elevate local concerns to a broader platform and leverage the resources of these organizations.

This site serves as a hub for updates on relevant legislation and policy, offering advocacy strategies and access to information on pending and enacted laws. In today's environment, it is essential for providers to take an active role in advocating for their patients and practices. No one understands the challenges better than those directly involved in delivering care.

Staying informed about policies that impact cancer care is in every provider’s best interest. By engaging with elected officials—both in Washington through Michigan’s Congressional delegation and with state legislators in Lansing—you help keep cancer care policy at the forefront. Lawmakers are more likely to respond to specific, real-life scenarios shared by their constituents, making your voice a vital part of the advocacy process. Gaining access to busy policymakers is the first step toward ensuring your concerns receive the attention they deserve.
