Governor Whitmer Signs Bipartisan Bill: Interstate Medical Licensure Compact

House Bill 5455, sponsored by state Representative Rylee Linting (R-Wyandotte), reconfirms Michigan’s role in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, which allows qualified physicians to be eligible for expedited licensure in all participating states. Without taking this step, Michigan would lose up to 5,000 doctors who currently serve around 100,000 Michiganders in the state.
