Looking Back on Spring Training and Looking Forward to What's Next
Recap of MSPCA WDI-O Recertification Webinar & the Last Chance Recertification Webinar.
This was a busy Spring for MSPCA and its members, who are dedicated to keeping their licensure up to date with the Maryland Department of Agriculture and keeping their pest control knowledge and skills sharp. Two training webinars were held this spring that trained 175 PMPs.
MSPCA WDI-O Credentialed Recertification
MSPCA conducted the WDI-O Recredentialing Webinar on May 13th, which was attended virtually by 25 WDI-O Inspectors who hold the voluntary MSPCA WDI-O credentials. The MSPCA WDI-O program provides individuals who conduct WDI-O inspections with in-depth training on how to conduct a thorough inspection that their customers can truly rely on. MSPCA Credentialed WDI-O inspectors must be recertified every 3 years to keep this voluntary certification current. All WDI-O inspectors performing WDI-O inspections must carry MDA certification in category 7B - Wood-destroying Insects. MSPCA extends our gratitude to presenters Bruce Morgan, MSPCA WDI-O Committee Chair; Jeff Lloyd, Ph.D., Nisus; Samantha Forrest, Corteva; Jason Meyers, Ph.D., BASF; and Alex Lehmann, Maryland Department of Agriculture, for sharing their knowledge and experience.
Interested in earning the MSPCA WDI-O Credentials? Technicians seeking to earn these credentials first take the Virginia Pest Management Association (VPMA) Certified WDI Inspector course, where they learn step-by-step inspection procedures, tools of the trade, and safety elements, as well as how to complete an accurate report using the NPMA-33.
Since in Maryland, the MD-1 is the required form to complete for WDI-O inspections, an MSPCA supplement must be completed after a candidate finishes the VPMA Certified WDI Inspector Workshop and exam. The MSPCA Supplement provides additional Maryland-specific information about licensure and reporting requirements. An MSPCA Exam must also be completed to earn the MSPCA WDI-O credentials.

Last Chance MSPCA Recertification Webinar
The MSPCA Last Chance Recertification Webinar was held on May 29th and was attended by 150 PMPs. PMPs seeking great pest management training and recertification credits received it during this webinar where they learned about general pests, termites, and mosquitoes from industry experts, in addition to an MDA update. The training was approved for recertification credits in categories 7A, 7B, 7D, 8, and CORE in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC. A huge thank you to our presenters Isabella Lucero, J.T. Eaton; Timothy Husen, Ph.D., Syngenta; Samantha Forrest, ACE, Corteva; Brittany Campbell, Ph.D., BCE, Control Solutions; and Alex Lehmann, Maryland Department of Agriculture.
