Meet This Year’s Scholarship Recipients
MSPCA Awards Three Fred Neil Scholarships
MSPCA is proud to announce the 2026 recipients of the Fred Neil Scholarship. This year, the association selected three students to receive $1,000 scholarship awards in support of their studies.
MSPCA typically awards two Fred Neil Scholarships each year. This year, however, the Board selected three recipients because all three candidates submitted strong applications, and applications have been lighter over the past few years. The Fred Neil Scholarship is a member benefit available to all MSPCA members and their employees.
The 2026 Fred Neil Scholarship recipients are:
Julia Liebermann
Julia is a student at James Madison University, where she is studying kinesiology. She plans to become an occupational therapist and is building experience through service and mentoring work that supports individuals with disabilities.
“Receiving the Fred Neil Scholarship is an honor that directly supports my career goals,” Julia said. “As a Kinesiology student on the pre-occupational therapy track, I am passionate about helping others regain their independence. This generous support from the MSPCA allows me to fully focus on my education and maintain the high GPA needed for graduate school. I am incredibly grateful to the association for investing in my future.”
Madeline Spigler
Madeline is a student at East Carolina University, where she is studying hospitality management. Her application highlighted her leadership experience, school involvement, and commitment to creating welcoming environments for people from different backgrounds.
“This scholarship means so much to me,” Madeline said. “It allows me to continue my education and work towards my degree. I am honored to receive it.”
Samuel Barton
Samuel is a student at Liberty University, where he is studying applied ministry. His application focused on his commitment to service, leadership, and using his education to support others.
"This scholarship means a lot to me because it helps ease the financial burden of college and motivates me to keep working toward my goals.”
MSPCA congratulates Julia, Madeline, and Samuel on their selection and wishes them continued success in their studies. The association is pleased to support the next generation through the Fred Neil Scholarship program. If you know a student who would benefit from MSPCA support, encourage them to apply for a 2027 Fred Neil Scholarship.
