A Year in Review: Advancing the PA Profession Together

As we reflect on the past 50 years of serving Ohio's PA community, it is clear that progress, partnership, and purpose defined the work of the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants in 2025. Across advocacy efforts, educational programming, student engagement, and member connection, this year showcased the strength and momentum of Ohio’s PA community.

Advocacy remained a central focus. OAPA continued to actively represent PAs at the Statehouse, partnering with our new lobbying firm to engage with legislators and stakeholders on issues that impact patient access, PA practice, and the future of healthcare in Ohio. We proudly reintroduced Title Change and laid the groundwork for other critical legislation to come. Through timely updates, calls to action, and ongoing relationship-building, members stayed informed and involved in shaping policy that supports both PAs and the patients they serve, culminating in a successful Ohio PA Advocacy Day in October.

Education and professional development were also hallmarks of the year. From in-person and virtual CME opportunities to focused clinical and professional sessions, OAPA delivered meaningful learning experiences designed to meet members where they are, from Pre-PAs to new graduates to practicing PAs seeking pharmacology and other CME content. These offerings reinforced OAPA’s commitment to lifelong learning and excellence in practice.

The OAPA Annual Conference once again served as the highlight of the year, bringing together PAs, students, and supporters from across the state. Alongside high-quality educational sessions and networking opportunities, the conference celebrated the next generation of PAs. At the Challenge Bowl, PA student teams impressed with their clinical knowledge, teamwork, and professionalism.

OAPA also continued to invest in students and emerging professionals through scholarships and engagement with PA programs statewide. These efforts reflect a shared commitment to fostering leadership, inclusion, and long-term growth within the profession.

Throughout the year, OAPA recognized outstanding contributions from members and partners, celebrated milestones, and strengthened connections across the PA community. None of this progress would be possible without the dedication of volunteer leaders, committee members, sponsors, and engaged members.

As we look ahead, OAPA remains focused on advancing the PA profession, supporting members, and advocating for high-quality patient care.
