Medicaid Rules Recognizing PAs Effective July 1
New Medicaid rules recognizing PAs will become effective on July 1, 2012. PAs will have access to the new system for enrollment on July 1.
Enrollment access is through MITS and your office billing staff will know how to access this information. Have them go to http://jfs.ohio.gov/mits/index.stm. It will take approximately two weeks for the Provider Identification Number to be released.
You cannot bill under your own number until you have received that number from ODJFS. If your office submits a claim with you as the “paid to” and you do not have an official ODJFS Provider Identification Number, the claim will be denied.
PAs do not currently have their own Medicaid provider ID number. You cannot use your NPI or another number before you receive your ODJFS number. Please advise your office staff to not submit any claims without a Medicaid Provider Identification Number for you.
