The Link Between Sleep and Headache

Psychological Trauma: A Developmental Perspective

Various psychiatric syndromes may emerge in the aftermath of trauma, including mood and anxiety disorders, borderline personality, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This presentation will examine the similarities and differences in psychopathological outcome between trauma in childhood versus adulthood. The primary pharmacotherapy intervention in trauma and the role of benzodiazepines in the treatment of trauma will also be discussed.

Drug Therapy of Hyperlipidemia Based on Pharmacologic Mechanisms

Drug therapy of hyperlipidemia varies drastically from the use of statins to niacin. The pharmacologic rationale for drug therapy will be reviewed based on drug mechanisms and the pathophysiology of hyperlipidemia. This program is intended to be a review of the fundamental pharmacological mechanisms of drugs affecting blood lipids. The National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) guidelines will also be presented.
