APhA’s The Pharmacist & Patient-Centered Diabetes Care Certificate Training Program will provide an educational experience designed to equip pharmacists with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to provide effective, evidence-based diabetes care. The program provides comprehensive instruction in current diabetes concepts and standards of care and incorporates case studies and hands-on skills training focused on the situations most likely to be encountered — as well as the services most needed — in community and ambulatory care practice settings. Participants will gain experience evaluating and adjusting drug therapy regimens for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, counseling patients about lifestyle interventions, analyzing and interpreting self-monitoring of blood glucose results, and assessing the overall health status of patients to identify needed monitoring and interventions.

APhA's Delivering Medication Therapy Management Services: Program Details
APhA’s Delivering Medication Therapy Management Services certificate training program (4th Edition) presents a systematic approach for developing, implementing, delivering, and sustaining MTM services. It includes an overview of the marketplace for delivering MTM services, guidance for implementing MTM services in pharmacy practice, a review of the essential skills and knowledge needed for performing MTM successfully, and an organized process for identifying medication-related problems. The purpose of this certificate training program is to prepare pharmacists to improve medication use through the delivery of MTM services in a variety of practice settings.

APhA’s Delivering Medication Therapy Management Services certificate training program has three components: online interactive self-study with assessment; the live seminar with online evaluation; and post-seminar case exercise. A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded to participants who successfully complete all program components, including an evaluation.

Pharmacist Training Program for Long-Acting Injectables: Program Details
OPA is pleased to announce its live training program on January 16, 2025 for pharmacists who plan to administer the following long-acting or extended-release dangerous drugs permitted by Ohio Revised Code 4729.45:
- Opioid antagonist used for treatment of drug addiction or alcohol dependence and administered in long-acting or extended-release form;
- Antipsychotic drug administered in long-acting or extended-release form;
- Medroxyprogesterone acetate for non-pregnant women;
- Cobalamin.
Seating is limited.
LAI Training Program for Long-Acting Injectables Brochure
The live training will be held at the OPA office in Columbus, and includes sessions on implementing administration of antipsychotic medications in pharmacy practice; naltrexone administration and the required testing; and sterile preparation and administration technique for administering these medications. The administration technique session will include SC injections in the upper arm and abdomen, and IM injections in the deltoid and gluteal muscles. Completion of the home-study lessons on LAI antipsychotics, naltrexone, and buprenorphine is required before attending the live session.
Home-study lessons on each of the four categories of dangerous drugs are available for purchase on the OPA website. These lessons meet the training requirements in Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) 4729:1-3-03(L). Pharmacists who have met the training requirements for administration of immunizations (OAC 4729:1-3-02) are not required to complete additional training in administration technique, if their previous training included the same injection techniques necessary to administer the dangerous drug.

APHA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate Training Program
APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery
Ohio Pharmacists Association, an APhA licensed partner, is offering APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certificate program. This training program is based on national educational standards for immunization training from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This practice-based curriculum represents a fusion of science and clinical pharmacy. The program, which emphasizes a health care team approach, seeks to foster the implementation of interventions that will promote disease prevention and public health.
The purpose of this certificate training program is to prepare pharmacists with comprehensive knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to provide immunization services to patients across the life span.
Composed of an online self-study component combined with a live seminar that teaches hands-on immunization techniques, this program will provide a total of 20 hours of continuing education for pharmacists.

APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery certificate training program Interest Form
APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Administration by Pharmacy Technicians
Ohio Pharmacists Association, an APhA licensed partner, is offering APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Administration by Pharmacy Technicians. This program was originally developed by Washington State University (WSU) and revised through a partnership between WSU and the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). The Pharmacy-Based Immunization Administration by Pharmacy Technicians training program explores the expanding role of the pharmacy technician by providing additional skills training to administer immunizations.
This two-part program emphasizes a health care team collaboration between pharmacists and technicians which seeks to improve population health by increasing immunization rates in states that allow technicians to immunize. Composed of an online self-study component combined with a live seminar that teaches hands-on immunization techniques, this program will provide a total of six hours of continuing education for technicians.
