Ohio Department of Medicaid releases COVID-19 vaccine administration billing guidelines

The Ohio Department of Medicaid has released their formal guidelines and billing procedures for COVID-19 vaccine administration. The guidance follows OPA's ongoing efforts to work with Governor DeWine's administration to expand availability of COVID-19 vaccines to all pharmacies across the state.

We expect further vaccine distributions in the coming weeks, which is why the release of the Ohio Department of Medicaid's billing guidance is timely and appreciated, so pharmacies can have greater certainty in their implementation and roll-out efforts.

We applaud the efforts of our OPA members who have jumped into vaccination efforts across the state.

OPA is working diligently to facilitate communication between state decision-makers and member pharmacists. We want to thank you for all the questions received recently. OPA has created multiple COVID-19 resources, including a COVID-19 Vaccine Information WebpageCOVID-19 Testing Hub, and COVID-19 Resources Webpage.

We will continue to provide more details as they become available.

Thanks to the OPA members who have offered their experience as a resource if any pharmacy needs assistance in signing up as vaccinators or have general COVID-19 vaccine-related questions. For further questions, please contact Myriam Shaw Ojeda at mshawojeda@ohiopharmacists.org.
