OPA Announces Innovative Pharmacy Business Plan Competition

The Ohio Pharmacists Association (OPA) is prleased to announce its 2012 Innovative Pharmacy Business Plan Competition (IPBPC).  The IPBPC seeks to provide pharmacy students with the opportunity to develop an attainable business plan for pharmacy practice.

The business plan will serve as a formal set of business goals, along with the plan to reach those goals.  You will be able to discuss the overall vision, marketing, financing, and operational aspects of the business, which are all described in the attached IPBPC guidelines.  Finalists will have the opportunity to present the business plan during the 134th Ohio Pharmacists Association Annual Conference to be held April 20-22, 2012 in Columbus, Ohio.

Your business plan may be focused on an individual pharmacy or a pharmacy service that you may foresee pharmacists providing.  We invite you to be creative and explore the endless practice settings in which pharmacists can be engaged. The IPBPC will challenge you and your colleagues to create an attainable business where you may very well practice in the future. As you consider the possibilities, ponder the words from the American economist Ted Levitt, as he states, “Just as energy is the basis of life itself and ideas the source of innovation, so is innovation the vital spark of all human change, improvement and progress.”

We are excited for your enthusiasm, creativity, and desire in this competition as you and your teammates contribute to the future of your profession.  We welcome you to carefully read the IPBPC Guidelines, complete the IPBPC Application form, and submit your Business Plan no later than the post-marked date of February 1, 2012.
